Cotton chambray, is a blend of hemp (organic fibre) and cotton. It refers to a lightweight plain woven fabric consisting of white yarns filling out the weft and colored yarns lining the warp. It was initially a fabric made of linen, but has since been applied to cotton.
Fabrics made from hemp are hypo-allergenic and non-irritating to the skin. It has the look of classic linen. Hemp materials will also soften with age and with each washing.
Like linen and cotton, hemp is a cool choice for summer. It breathes well. It is recommended for warm, humid climates as the fabric resists mildew and absorbs moisture.
